Willis won 6-3 4-6 6-3 against Ward, and is playing Milton tomorrow. I think smethurst lost as well.

QR2: Marcus Willis WR 944 beat Alex Ward WR 846 6-4,3-6,6-3 smilecry
QR2: BJELICA, Ivan (SRB) WR858 (q11) beat Dan Smethurst  WR1060 6-7, 6-4 6-4 cry

FQR:
(q2) Josh Milton WR 713 vs. Marcus Willis WR 944

Main Draw-
R32: (SE) Dan Cox WR698 vs. Joao Sousa (POR) WR643*

Sousa hadn't won a main draw match in 2009 in 6 attempts until his trip to Turkey although all losses were on Spanish clay (including a 7-5, 6-2 loss to Alex Ward).
He qualified for the first Turkish Futures event beating Pauffley 6-1,6-4 along the way before beating 8th seed Luncanu in straights then succumbing to Cox's own conqueror Pedersen in round 2. Last week he qualified again and earned a point courtesy of Ysern retiring after only 1 game, and lost in round 2 again.

Given Cox's good form, he should be favourite against Sousa but there's a potential rematch with Pedersen in round 2.

*Using today's rankings Dan is up 44 places to #654 with another 5 points to go on his total which should push him up a further 15 places, while Sousa has dropped nearly 300 places to #938 due to losing the 80 points he gained from reaching the round of 16 in Estoril after qualifying. So now Cox is the higher ranked player as well as the one in form.

FQR: (q2) Josh Milton WR 713 beat Marcus Willis WR 944 by 2-6 7-6(2) 6-0 smilecry

Odd scoreline ... and crap draw: cry

L32: (Q) Josh Milton WR 706 v (2) Hans Podlipnik-Castillo (CHI) WR 421

Josh lost to H P-C 4 & 5 in Alkmaar last June, which might actually mean he has a slight chance.

Looking at luckier draws, our old friend Tuna Altuna becomes the second fish to have a ranking point (after Mardy!), taking out another unranked Turkish WC 0 & 2 in R1 today.

Dan Cox has withdrawn for some reason. cry

Hopefully the reason is just rest. And a plan to play qualies in Tenerife, which would not have been possible if he had gone deep this week.

Not an unexpected result, but after a couple of decent weeks where the young guns have produced some admirable performances, it feels like a bit of a letdown.cry
