RE: Week 15 - Challenger $35k+H Mexico City, Mexico

Josh faces Lapenttķ at 18.00 BST today, if I've done my calculations correctly, &  his new-found Polish mate the Colombian 6th seed, Santiago Giraldo, likewise.  They are then scheduled to take on Victor Estrella & Joćo Souza (DOM/BRA) in the doubles QF (not before 21.00 our time), so they could both be knackered! hmm  That said, Estrella & Souza had quite a battle before they eventually got the better of their Colombian opponents in the first round by 6-7(5) 7-6(5) [10-7] yesterday.

*  Olejniczak, though unseeded, is the defending singles champion, so he at least should be well acquainted with the conditions in Mexico City...

Beating Josh himself in the SF if I remember rightly.

That's a massive win for Josh considering how his season has gone so far and his previous results against Lorenzi, and the fact he's got plenty of points to defend this week.

Lapentti is definately beatable as long as he plays a good match, which at least will defend some of the points he gained last year.

The british would be challanger crew remind me very much of the liverpool team of the late 90s(spice boys) there all really good looking model like boys(goodall eaton and slabba) but well anrt up to much sport wise.
Well anyway im still looking forward to goodall and eaton contesting the queens final, however eaton will get revenge knocking goodall out of the sf of newport.

Another bummer for Josh in the doubles (though Olejniczak managed to take out the sixth seed in the singles in straight sets, 4 & 5! hmm ):  they lost 4-6 6-7(5). cry

That's a disappointing loss for Josh - Lapentti isn't exactly a world beater, and with the altitude as well, for Josh to drop serve three times at the least is a poor effort.

Still, at least he won a round here which is better than nothing.

Looking at this week end news about outbreak of 'swine flu' it seems that they got out of Mexico City just in time.
How did this 'flu manage to breed under those hostile conditions?

Maybe it's because of the hostile conditions. They say it's been affecting mainly healthy young adults so far, which is a bit worrying for the Brits trying to qualify for this week's Mexican Future in Córdoba, about 150 miles away from the capital.
