14 bakery products (including three double bagels) handed out in 10 matches in QR1 - one of the double bagels was recorded by Chris's opponent:
QR2: (3) Chris Eaton WR 383 v Justin Bower (RSA) UNR
Bower is a 30-year-old who is unranked now but has been ranked as high as 180, though that was 8 years ago. Like Chris, he once qualified and then won a round at Wimby also like Chris, he has lost to Tursunov, though not at Wimby. Unlike Chris, he has 1-0 career records against Davydenko, Ancic and Tipsy!
Something drastic must have happened at the end of 2004, because he stopped playing ranked events while on a 23-match winning streak (!), winning three Futures in consecutive weeks in the US and then qualifying for and winning another Future in South Africa. His only matches recorded on ITF since were two singles losses in a DC tie v Morocco in Sep 2005.
Bower's only previous match against a Brit this century was a straight sets win against Lee Childs in 2002 and his very old H2H against Brits is 5-1.

Great that he qualified though by all accounts it would have been worrying if he hadn't with that draw.
To be honest I don't think the seed is all that much worse than De Voest or Koubek both of whom have been ranked much higher in the past. Unless Chris gets the wildcard, I'll be surprised (pleasantly so) if he wins his 1st round match.
