have to say i am not overly surprised by this result. didn't quite expect it to be so uncompetitive tho. i do know that these are very slow hard courts so maybe not suitable for Alex's game? but its still disappointing.
Evans and Reynolds both lost too!

The weather helped Marinko Matosevic (Aus) beat Great Britains Alex Bogdanovic 6-4, 6-2. Its very windy in Australia so it didnt bother me that much said Marinko, who overcame an early break to take control of the match.
looks like Brits just don't like playing in the wind at the mo, although i know boggo does get affected by such things as he does like to go for his shots rather than grind it out. you think windy conditions help players who play with larger margin's for error. lets hope slabba fares better.

Oh dear. Well, there are 4 players in the GB men's top 25 who are only 18 - Evo, Cox, Ward & Meatball and there are 4 Brits still standing this week - Evo, Cox, Ward & Meatball.
'Wrong' Ward of course, and I fear he's probably lost too, in which case he still won't have scored as many ranking points as the 18-year-old Ward this year.
The kids are taking over the asylum!

As I've reported on the San Luís Potosí thread, steven, it's just possible that the "wrong" Ward may well - unexpectedly - have won (no score, nor official confirmation, unfortunately ), so maybe, just maybe, he has! that it's true, anyway!

That would be really excellent, just the kind of result Wardy needs to get his season going, and goodness knows, FD and I did our best to tempt fate the right way.
We won't know for sure until much later. People don't usually put dud results on MTF deliberately, simply because they know they'd never get away with it twice, but the 'investors' bit, which is very funny, does make me wonder if the poster didn't actually know the result and was just having a laugh at the expense of the desperate-sounding Souza fans.

I did well with my prediction of who Slabba would get - shame the Brits couldn't do as well in their matches making it another poor week at the challengers.
Expected Slabba to lose to Berankis and it looks like he played a reasonably good match to push him close, but Boggo's result is a bit of a disaster - I thought he would have won so to get thrashed is disappointing.
Boggo had another disaster in the doubles: he & Conor Niland were thrashed 1 & 2 by the qualifiers, Somdev Devvarman & the Filippino with the unbelievable name, Treat Conrad Huey! Not his week...
