I didn't think Katie would play a clay court tournament without suitable preparation on the surface (Barcelona is next week) but it looks like you are right, as the players section of the Barcelona website lists her, illustrated with some of the most unflattering photos they could find of Katie.

It's an old tier IV.

Katie does have an interesting array of 'effort' faces, haha.

Poor Katie (see http://www.bcnwta.com/wta/index.php?menu=2&continguts=jugadoras), she does tend to look like she's going through the agonies of every Katiecoaster when she's out on court. smile

I remember seeing an off-court pic of her looking great recently, which I was going to link to in order to redress the balance, but I can't find it now. What I did find when looking for it was a story about her 85-year-old grandmother watching the AO FQR on live scores at 4 am. Clearly this live score madness is not something people grow out of! wink http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/news/Tennis-star-Katie-true-Yorkshire-gritarticle-623417-details/article.html

Anyway, she can look as scary as Conchita Martinez for all I care if she can get into the top 100! smile

Just noticed she's playing the 100k in Joburg on the 27th. At the moment she's 8th seed, compared to the 100k in Cagnes-sur-Mer the same week where she would barely be seeded to qualify, haha. Even better as Joburg is Hard and the French one is clay.

Here's a nice one of Katie to help redress the balance.

where are those photos from?

there were some good photos from Minsk taken by a person who went to the event where she was looking in good shape. I think Katie has always been pretty good with her fitness tho, she really stepped it up last year.

Along with Bally and Anne Katie looks extremely athletic now.

In fairness, Katie has always been pretty athletic. It's her head that's let her down a lot of the time.

She seems to be doing a whole lot better this year.

i think all of the top brit women have been stronger mentally this year, they've always had the skill but only now are they starting to believe in themselves.
