The Times today has cleared up Laura's injury situation:
"The new girls world No 1 has not played competitively since the final of the Australian Open junior tournament because of a stress fracture to her shin that has mended sufficiently for her to be back hitting balls this week. "
Laura is currently scheduled to play next in a junior tournament in France the week after the tournament in Tessenderlo, but there is clearly some doubt about whether she will be fit in time.
Laura to play at Nottingham in round robin tournament weekend before Eastborne on 13/14 June. Could her comeback involve Roland Garros juniors miss Edgbaston then this practice event on grass followed by WCM into Eastborne and WCM into Wimbledon or is it most likely she will play only one grass court tournament that being Wimby? Assuming of course her comeback from injury goes to plan
Laura may now settle for Nottingham and then match practice at the Eastbourne Cup, assuming her Wimbledon qualy WC is upgraded, saving up her WCs for when she has a reasonable amount of tournament play under her belt. She's on the entry list for a Grade 1 Junior event in Italy in May (along with Heather Watson and Hannah James), so let's hope she doesn't have to pull out of that one.
According to today's Metro, she now has a sponsorship deal with Robinsons.
A tennis head article also said it includes coaching from Tim Henman, but then they also said she was junior No. 2, so I don't think that much effort went into the research.
