One of the unluckiest players in tennis - you're right there. She'll drop about 30 places if she can't defend any of the points. It must be so frustrating for her, and probably the reason she tried to come back here before she was ready, if that's what happened.

Well done Mel - After that 1st set I though it was going to be another disappointing defeat

Mel now has to play Paszek (WR 68) in the 2nd Qualifying Round after she beat Zi Yan 6-2 4-6 6-4

Mel will play the Austrian third seed Tamira Paszek in final qualifying, who won in 3 sets earlier. Paszek is a talented teenager, but has been held back by injury in the last year, so doesn't have much form.
