RE: Week 11 Futures - Great Britain F4 ($15k) - Bath

LOL good one! smile.gif

I've only just twigged that Colin and Dan's big wins today mean that we now have a guaranteed semi-finalist from that evil-looking top quarter - who'd have thought it?! smile.gif

Great wins for Dan and Colin, and even if Fischer wasn't feeling too well, it's still a good win for Cox who finally seems to have found a bit of form this week which he'll hopefully be able to build on and do what Evans did last year and shoot up the rankings.

Great win for Fleming as well who seems to be keen to get the ranking up in line with his doubles one which will enable him to play more and more challenger events, and the good news is a semi finalist will come from that section.

Shame that Eaton lost, and he just doesn't seem to be able to win matches at futures level, but he needs to start scoring points soon to avoid a huge drop when Wimbledon comes around.

Hopefully Bloomers will have got his win today as well to get a 3rd Brit in the last 8, while Illy could have produced a miracle against Robert...

Good to see Bloomers get the win over Metenier after a slow start, while Illy put up a decent fight and did as well as we expected against Robert.

Hopefully Robert's streak will end at 15 matches again...

That's true, I think most of us would be happy to take that when we started off with only the no. 7 seed!

That's a hell of win for both Coxy and Fleming and a good one for Bloomers to get revenge for Jonny. To be cheeky I will pick the winner tomorrow being Cox, Minar, Oudesma and Bloomers.

QF
FLEMING (GBR) / SKUPSKI (GBR) (1) defeated OUDSEMA (USA) / SIMMONDS (USA) 7-6(4) 6-3
EATON (GBR) / FISCHER (AUT) (3) defeated KRKOSKA (CZE) / MINAR (CZE) 6-4 6-4
NIELSEN (DEN) / PEDERSEN (DEN) (4) defeated FARQUHARSON (GBR) / STERLAND-MARKOVIC (GBR) 6-3 6-3
WOLMARANS (RSA) / YANI (USA) defeated EVANS (GBR) / KONTINEN (FIN) 6-2 7-6(5)

SF
FLEMING (GBR) / SKUPSKI (GBR) (1) Vs EATON (GBR) / FISCHER (AUT) (3)
NIELSEN (DEN) / PEDERSEN (DEN) (4) Vs WOLMARANS (RSA) / YANI (USA)

Doubles QF results:

(1) Fleming/Skupski WR 490 beat Oudsema/Simmonds WR 841 7-6(4) 6-3 smile
(3) Eaton/Fischer WR 589 beat Krkoska/Minar WR 687 4 & 4 smile
(WC) Farquharson/Sterland-Markovic UNR lost to (4) Nielsen/Pedersen 3 & 3 cry
Wolmarans/Yani WR 1145 beat Evans/Kontinen WR 1329 6-2 7-6(5) cry

So wouldn't you just know it!  The only Brits left in the competition play one another in the first SF! disbelief  I guess that means we are guaranteed at least a 25% share of the finalist! wink

Cracking win for Dan. Is that his best win ranking wise?

He beat a top 100 player (Bellucci) in Nottingham qualies last year.

Oh right. Forgot that one. Still, one of his best.

I was at Bath today and saw most of the matches......Fleming was the class act on display and a Fleming-Robert final seems likely

A few good results coming out of this week. I'm going to have to cheer for Fleming in that semi as I'd like to see him move up to challengers in both singles and doubles very soon, but if Cox manages to pull out the win I would be complaining either!

Good luck to Bloomers too, I'd love him to be the one to end Nielsen's streak.
