thats a nice strong qualies run. Phillips is probs playing as i type this in turkey - i think he has a great chance of going deep in one of these turkish futures
... so you could say that asking a seed in Turkey if they're looking forward to playing Morgan is like asking a Turkey if they're looking forward to Christmas. (errm, I'll get my coat ... )
That may well be Morgan's most convincing result since his comeback.

Great win for Morgan, and his results this season do suggest that on the whole he is playing somewhere near the level he was at before the first injury, but he's not quite there yet, and having to play 3 qualifying matches each week cannot help as well.
Hopefully he'll be able to make the QF's here and steadily be able to move his ranking up to where we all know it should be about.
Unfortunately, Morgan wasn't so lucky in the doubles: he & his French partner, Stéphane Piro, seem to have given it their best shot, but couldn't quite pull it off, losing 3-6 6-1 [6-10].
L16: (Q) Morgan Phillips WR 1351 beat Haluk Akkoyun (TUR) WR 841 by 6-2 7-6(6)
QF: (Q) Morgan Phillips WR 1351 v (3) Andrei Gorban (MDA) WR 356
Gorban is the Moldovan no. 1! He went 5-0 in DC singles last year and 1-0 in doubles when they got promoted to the group we're trying to avoid relegation to but they lost 5-0 to Latvia (without Gulbis) this year.

Another good solid win for Morgan, and while Gorban is a tough opponent, it will be a good test as to where he is at - not expecting anything from the match, but it would be a massive win if he could beat him.
