Well done to Andy and Ross. As Andy says he can practise for about 2 hours at the moment, he should have a bit left in the tank - this match wasn't too long over an hour. Very odd scoreline.
Enjoy your hols, Helki. But what bad timing - on holiday during Indian Wells (unless you will be able to watch it on holiday of course)
'Fraid not, Mad. Off to Austria to test out the old legs on the ski slopes. I'm sure I'll get to know what happens, however. I have to agree a very strange scoreline, but nonetheless welcome and one I wasn't expecting.
I guess an hour & 18 minutes' work-out on court is one way of testing your fitness! To win the match that brought it about is a bonus: at least 90 ranking points to be chalked up to Ross's account! Hope it hasn't taken too much out of Andy, though...
Snippet of info relevant to Jamie's quarter of the draw: the seventh seeds, Jeff Coetzee & Wes Moodie, are out, beaten 3 & 3 by Michaël Llodra & Ugly Mug, sorry, Radek Stepanek!
Good for for Murray and Hutchins and it probably gives Murray an idea of how his fitness in terms of playing matches is, while for Ross it is some decent ranking points to be added to his account, as well as the money.
Strange match I guess with them getting bagelled in the second set, but once they lost the second break they probably realised that a MTB was on the cards so just threw the set away.
Hopefully Jamie can join the Brits in round two when he plays presumably tomorrow.
Hmm, interesting. Nowt to do immediately with Andy's/Hutch's quarter of the draw, but Vemic & Big Ivo have just lost in straights sets (4 & 4) to David Ferrer & Andy's opponent in the second round of the singles, Albert Montañés.
Disappointing loss for Jamie as Del Potro and Nalbandian aren't exactly established doubles players, but given their ability they will always be dangerous.
He just needs to get some wins - maybe stepping down to challengers is what he'll need to do for a few weeks just to feel what it is like to win matches again.
