BT at the DC : Dead Sunday

I hate 'Dead Sunday'. At least last year at wimbledon it went down to the last match.

Colin hurt his back during set 2 yesterday and is due to play at Tipton this week coming so wont be playing today. Lloyd confirmed that Josh & Chris will be playing today. Cannot see Stak playing so the two will be from Marchenko, Bubka and Sergeyev.

LTA are holding a PC with Rodger Draper etc at 11.15am.

will report back then.

Due to start at noon, i.e. now. . .

I just tried BBC2, where the DC was scheduled, to hear, "and now, in a change of schedule. . ." so there will probably be no livestream either. The cameramen etc. have probably all packed up and gone home.

Just checked the Beeb website - it says "Live Davis Cup" but then, "This broadcast has now ended"

Not even scores from anywhere?

why is there little interest in tennis in GBR?

I was thinking "How can we be critiacal of BBC etc when LTA cant be bothered!" and lo and behold they now have some info -

12.25pm Players on court

Apologies for the radio silence - I got waylaid in 'Build your own bear,' which has to be Braehead's most novel shop...you choose a teddy, choose the clothes, shoes, and accessories, and moments later you've got the perfect teddy bear. Anyway...

The players are on court, and as expected, Sergiy Stakhovsky has deferred the responsibility of his second singles rubber to the fourth member of the Ukrainian team, Ivan Sergeyev. So here's hoping Josh can notch up his first Davis Cup win.

Who is Josh playing? Is Stak playing or has he dashed off to Indian Wells?

The LTA are blogging it btw at http://www.lta.org.uk/Articles/Davis-Cup-As-It-Happens-2009/Sunday---Final-rubbers/ but I imagine Drew's texts will be more up to date, especially since the LTA blogger seems more interested in the build a bear shop.

Btw Ivan Sergeyev is 20, WR 398, career high 257 (Apr 2008), lost to Wardy in the UAE Future SFs last November, thrashed by Marray in South Africa in 2004 - though he would have been only about 16 then. One Josh ought to win quite comfortably though.

Josh gets on the board 1-2*

Aha, the BBC blog suggest that Sergeyev is the girly looking one (a la Lopez) who was seen on the bench, I thought he must be - Josh of all people won't want to lose to him!
