Davis Cup Day Two - Drews Blog

Just read J Overends blog on the BBC.

Agree with some of it but came to the line

"There is more stability in a weeble" (Referring to the GB mens game)

Now he has just become a father for the second time and perhaps been watching too much cbeebies or something but thats an awful line !

LOL yes. He also said that when Andrew Richardson was the last Brit outside the top 100 to win a live singles rubber, we were in EA Group 2 - we weren't, we had climbed back out of it a year earlier.

Managed to catch a minute with Ross Hutchins last night. We communicate via email regularly and now he knows the face. Could tell he was gutted. "I think I faced 2 second serves in 5 sets from Bubka...". he was right of course. I asked Stakhovsky if he was glad the he had his younger partner to rely on when serving...he replied "when i was choking he was serving unbelievably".

One thing that was noticeable during the match is how many times Bubka boomed forehands 5 feet beyond the GB baseline....7 or 8 times I counted. We should have attacked him more but seemed in awe of him throughout.

Oh well onto to 'Dead Sunday'.....

Are you saying that the rumour suggests the excited crowd ,flag waiving and painted faces were actually hired to try to create an atmosphere? Surely not-
I thought for a moment they had converted the usual DC audience of over 65s and under10s to a tennis hungry band of new age warriors!

The Stirling mob were Colin's uni friends. I don't know if he got them free tickets, but who cares - if he did, it was well worth it!
