Out of the players that I saw in QR1 today only two have the potential to take out one of the seeds in QR2. That is Priddle v Arlidge and Schmid v Willis. Hard to tell though with Ross-Hurst as his opponent was that bad.
I hope Priddle does well after his performances last week
Well done Priddle for qualifying, he hammered Janci 6-2 6-1 - now he draws the top seed Yani, WR 237! I don't think even he is playing that well. If he does win itll open up the draw for Evo
The GEM Robert has drawn the Wimble junior RU Kontinen, who is a JE. Hopefully he can upset him, all of us would breathe a huge sigh of relief
Interestingly, the Wolf's conqueror lost a respectable 6-3 6-4 to Bloomers
By the way didn't I read today that Petchy had said the LTA are spending too much on communications
You did, or something along those lines:
Total [LTA] income: £37.5 million. Player performance budget: £14.1 million, which includes coaches' salaries. Communications: £1.7 million, a rise of more than £1 million since 2006! Support services - which includes human resources, legal services, secretariat, finance, National Tennis Operations and the café - £10 million.
Coach education is a fascinating one. In its 2006 report, the LTA spent £1.81 million in this area, the following year £1.75 million and in 2008 £1.7 million. Yet, in the 2008 report, it is recorded that the budget for "coach services" in 2007 was £1 million. Something does not add up. No amount of spin will change the fact that the LTA spends the same on communications as coach education.
Events and tournament spending is down £2 million on the previous year. In fact down is the operative word. All the leading events are so far down South that it is virtually impossible for the rest of the country to get to see live action.
My bold.

There's no sign of the threatened presence of Stéphane Robert in the singles draw. Wonder whether Dan's presence as a lucky loser is thanks to his withdrawal...
