Drew - I assume you're going to ask about why the court surface is so slow if nobody else does?
I wonder if anyone will ask whether JL bothered to find out how Marchenko played and ever considered actually picking someone whose game would match up well against him.

the thing is we dont get a huge choice, esp with boggo dropping points to 3rd meaning that with no andy if josh was in the team he would have had to play Illy.

I know, but even with Andy in the team, it could have been the pivotal match given their doubles team's record.
It seems pretty clear to me having seen Marchenko and heard a bit more about Stakh that against the Ukraine, the best way to make use of home advantage would be to play big serve volleyers against them on a super-fast court.
(from that point of view, the Eaton pick may not turn out to be too bad after all! - but we've got better big serve-volleyers than him)

Josh was very frank at this PC. He admitted he got his tactics wrong and suffered from a lack of concentration at points throughout the match. This was his debut and has learned a lot from hit.
bt.net asked him during the Pc...
Q : "Where you surprised how slow the court was today?" A : "The court wasnt set up for me was it...not really surprised as I have been practising on it all week but it really does not suit my game"
Q : "You did not start to S&V until the third set...was that a mistake" A : "Yes it was a mistake...but this is my debut and I got it wrong"
Other points from the PC...
Josh was annoyed that he kept giving himself to much to do after starting each set poorly and finding himself with a mountain to climb.
Josh was asked if John Lloyd did not try and change his tactics during the match. Josh replied...
"Yes he did and thats what helped me get back in the second set....I stopped running around my backhand to try and hit my forehand. I usually mix up my backhands with slice and flat hits and am happy with that".
"But I reverted back to it during the third set. He played the big points better than me and that was key".
Where you nervous ?
"Of course I was this is my debut but the crowd were great out there and I really felt their support when I was 0-4 down in the second".
Is the DC all what you thought it would be ?
"Yes it is and I am enjoying it but i would like to have played differently today"
Josh came over very well and gave no excuses or waffle. Very honest appraisal of himself and I think we will see a better and different performance on Sunday.
