Week 9 - Womens ITF (25K) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA

A strong 25K field with cut just inside 200, should feature Georgie Stoop in the main draw. Yes, though to be fair to her, it was more a case of a shocking draw this week.

Main Draw

(4)Varvara Lepchenko (USA) v Q/LL
Tomoko Yonemura (JPN) v Q/LL
Georgie Stoop (GBR) v (wc)Lauren Embree (USA)
(7)Jessica Moore (AUS) v Q/LL

No-one for Georgie to fear in that section if she plays like she did last summer. Embree beat Heather in the final of the Eddie Herr Champs last year.

Tight one to call.

L32: Georgie Stoop WR 192 beat (WC) Lauren Embree (USA) WR 665 by 7-6(4) 6-3 smile.gif

L16: Georgie Stoop WR 192 v (7) Jessica Moore (AUS) WR 142

Moore has a W 2 L 7 record so far this year, her only wins coming against a lower-ranked fellow WC at the AO (9-7 in the 3rd) and against a lucky loser in R1 here. Three of the lsses have been thrashings by top 100 players, but she has lost to players ranked well below Georgie too. She has a 9-2 record against Brits, both losses coming aginst Amanda Elliott.

Half of Moore's ranking points come from being drawn against and beating WCs ranked outside the top 200 in the USO and the AO (even Chris Eaton's not that lucky! wink), so her top 150 ranking doesn't have a very solid base and Georgie should be going into this match as the favourite.

The draw has opened up in Georgies section. Its a chance for her to go deep and pick up some big points.
