RE: Week 8 - Challenger (€30,000+H) - Wolfsburg, Germany

Shame for Jonny to have a lost, but a good win for Bloomers, and hopefully he can go and qualify here.

Not the worst draw for Boggo to have - Lugassy in round 1 is someone that he has beaten twice before and has barely won a match against anyone for a long time, so isn't in any form at all, and then 2 qualifier in round 2 should be reasonably comfortable as well.

Hopefully this is the week where it all starts to come together for him after a promising last couple of weeks in performance rather than result.

QR1: Jonny Marray WR 434 lost tov (q4) Frederik Nielsen (DEN) WR 277 by 5 & 4 cry
QR1: (q8) Richard Bloomfield WR 318 beat Kevin Deden (GER) WR 524 by 4 & 4 smile

QR2: (q8) Richard Bloomfield WR 318 v (WC) Ralph Regus (GER) WR 1802

I'm very surprised that Regus beat Rafa's mate Nacho Coll in QR1, coming back from a 6-2 loss of the 1st set too. He's an 18-year-old left-hander and this was the first time he had ever beaten a player in the top 1300, let alone a player just outside the top 500. In juniors, he reached a high of 67 last year, beating Neil Pauffley but losing to Marcus Willis during 2008.

Nielsen is playing Dustov, whom Josh beat in three tight sets this week.

I hope Richard and Jonny team up for doubles. I'm not sure if they'd make the cut or not?

No they do not - Jonny plays with Jamie Delgado and they have drawn the Indian duo of Rohan Gajjar & Purav Raja. Unfortunately they are in the same quarter of the draw as Ken Skupski, who having missed the qualies cut partners Yank Travis Rettenmaier as the 4th seeds and they face Stefano Galvani & Denis Matsukevich (ITA/RUS). Boggo is also having a go at the doubles; he partners the Pole Dawid Olejniczak and they will play Dustin Brown & Fabio Colangelo (JAM/ITA).

What on earth ?!

QR2: (q8) Richard Bloomfield WR 318 beat (WC) Ralph Regus (GER) WR 1802 by 4 & 3 smile.gif

... then he didn't get Nielsen after all, he got the player who lost to Josh in R1 in Trento ... brilliant! ... or maybe not ... doh

FQR: (q8) Richard Bloomfield WR 318 lost to Farrukh Dustov (UZB) WR 443 by 7-6(3) 7-6(5) bleh

Edit: turns out that Dustov had a CH of 173 back in 2007 and once threashed Lee Childs 2 & 0, though Bloomers had won their one previous meeting 6-7(2) 6-4 6-4 at Sint Katelijne Waver, Belgium in 2004.

Bloomers is second in line for aLL spot, behind no. 1 Q seed REister but ahead of Dodig WR 350 and Gawron WR 361.

To add insult to injury, Dustov got the Q v Q match from which the winner gets to play the winner of Boggo's match (Richard has a 2-0 record in seniors against Boggo)
