That's a very tough opener for Jade, against the girl who led the US Junior Fed Cup team to victory (and qualified for the US Open main draw). Tara and Kat should win their openers.

Georgie won 6-3 6-0. Very impressive considering her opponent is a promising young junior who had qualified easily. Hopefully this proves that her performance 2 weeks ago was just a blip in her upwards progress. Winnable second round match against Irigoyen of Argentina Wickmayer may await in the quarter final

That's one hell of a good win for Georgie. smile The path past the QFs is blocked though as for some strange reason Yanina Wickmayer is playing here.

If Georgie could just beat Wickmayer she would be the only seed left in.

Good to see her bounce back after the blip at her last event.

She got some points on the board, hopefully she can go out and give Wickmaayer a test at least. It seems seems like a great oppertuinity for Georgie to get her second top 100 win. If she can get through this one th draw has opened up a bit the bigges threat is Julia Vakulenko in the bottom half.

If I remember right, she was shown as in the top 100 on the drawsheet (which is of course based on the rankings a week before the first Monday of the tournament) but had dropped a few places in the list that came out on the Monday of the tournament itself so was no longer in the top 100 when Georgie played her.
