RE: Week 7 - ATP 250 Series - Marseille, France

Zverev really. Apparently he looked fairly ordinary vs boggo at surbs last year.

What a pity I was out this morning and had to miss following this live, but what a storming performance from Bloomers biggrin - don't know quite where it came from after his quiet start to the year, but just what he needed after Colin Fleming must have knocked his confidence a bit.

The post-DC curse (e.g. Goodall) seems to have started early this year and become the DC playoff selection curse, while I guess Jonny and Richard are suffering from the "DC playoff non-selection blessing" (? - a bit of a mouthful, I know) wink

I'd noticed yesterday how the qualifier places in the main draw created an even bigger incentive for making it, but decided not to say anything out loud for fear of jinxing him!

Zverev is the lowest in the rankings, so I'd agree.

Can't see Bloomers beating any of the other four. But then who knows what he's capable of after qualifying !!!

Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong, but I make this the first time Bloomers has ever qualified for an ATP level event outside the UK!

The only other time he played in an ATP main draw outside the UK was in Washington in August 2005, when he and Del both got LL places and joined Greg & Tim in the main draw, Richard taking no. 6 seed Kiefer's place in the draw and getting a bye to R2, where he lost to Arnaud Clément (who coincidentally was born in Aix-en-Provence not far from Marseille) 9-7 in the 3rd set tiebreak.

wow guys, ive been away most of the weekend so this is a great suprise to come back too. If bloomers starts taking is careers seriosuly again he could do damage. He kinda of just plays enough tourneys to keep rankings like 18 bang on or summat.

Yes I know, I only put it in because I know how disappointed you'd be if I went too long without a useless piece of info like that, and the Count gets depressed if I don't give him a good chance to snipe at least once a week (day?) wink

I actually thought I remembered Clément coming from Marseille (which would still have been totally inconsequential, but a little bit less tenuous) and should have just left it out completely after checking and finding out the truth.

No, it would just mean Sheddie was back smile ... come to think of it, maybe that would be one of the signs of the apocalypse and you were right the first time wink

Richard Bloomfield vs Simone Bolelli (ITA) WR 37
After which Rich will play Tsonga (sorry getting carried away there)

Interestingly Bolelli has same coach as Bastl, lets hope the coach wasn't watching today.
Bastl is also in MD as Gasquet has withdrawn.
