So happy for her, she's done so well, hope she can solidify her place with another win because obviously there are still Vesnina and Razzano with the possibility of overtaking her, along with Erakovic herself.
Erakovic hasnt been in great form recently so I have full confidence in Anne to take her out. Good luck!
If Erakovic won the tournament, she'd be 5 points behind, but the surprise QF places for Vesnina and Razzano in Dubai make them big threats.
To be sure of finishing the week in the top 50, Anne needs to beat Erakovic (in which case she'll overtake Pironkova and Niculescu (*) plus only one of Vesnina and Razzano will be able to catch her, so she'd be guaranteed 49th) or have Vesnina lose to Kanepi and Razzano to Zvonareva in the Dubai QFs.
(*) she'd also overtake Shahar Peer, but I still expect the WTA to give her some points compensation for the Dubai mess so let's assume for now that she won't really overtake her.

But as she closes in on the top 50 don't you think she gets less media coverage than she deserves even relative to other british players. There was a sentence about her win in the telegraph sports pages in the sports round up and I imagine less in most other papers. Also going by my friends who are not tennis fans most have heard of Laura Robson but none have heard of Anne?

Perhaps the BBC are getting slow... no, no, I actually agree with you, there's very little to speak of in terms of coverage of our girls EXCEPT for perhaps The Times occasionally and Teletext which follows a few tournaments with our girls in, which is always nice to see. The BBC tends to falter somewhat. After Anne's win yesterday, it was a long while before anything appeared on the BBC website and there's nothing on digital about it either
But there never is
At the same time, little quibble here, but the WTA site gives a list of players mentioned in news articles when they win or lose a match and link them to their player biographies. NOT ONCE has Anne's link been given at the bottom of these articles. She's seeded fourth here in Memphis and she gets squat still. Players ranked lower than her have got one and Anne is teeeeeetering on the edge of the top 50 and hasn't got one.
Uh-oh, Razzano's win over Zvonareva means Anne needs to make the semis to almost GWA-RAN-TEEEE her top 50 spot. Semis would solidify herself inside as well, passing Niculescu and Pironkova.
