But so is Katie!

If she can get through then the draw has opened nicely - No seeds left in the top half

With the new determination Katie's been showing and the confidence her success has brought her so far this year, I'd just give her the edge over the good youngster.

And I will whisper it very quietly, but if our best women keep themselves healthy and injury free, I think we may have 5 women into a Grand Slam by right by the US Open as well as a few more battling it out in qualies. Wouldn't that be amazing.

Yes it would. It does, however, require everything to go right, which rarely happens in this world...

Great to see Katie winning. It's a strange thing and wonderful thing, confidence.

And Katie keeps on going, beating Begu 6-4 6-3, another straight sets win. Great.

Katie wins 6-4 6-3 according to the host website and faces a tough semi against Eleni Daniilidou next, rather than a rapid trip to Memphis for the qualis there.

I think sticking it out in Midland will be better for her confidence, as having Dokic in her quarter in Memphis would make qualifying there tough.

Katie back to her old self again, unfortunately.

Hope she gets to a t/b and regroups.
