I have it on good authority that Max Jones beat Jared Drucker, don't know about the rest yet though.

Today wasn't much of a 'treat' for David Baxendine (especially for Silver, that one) but we have two in the FQR here:

QR2: (q9) Tim Bradshaw WR 1125 beat Alejandro Cabrera-Jara (MEX) UNR by 2 & 4 smile
QR2: Max Jones UNR beat (q14) Jared Drucker (USA) WR 1660 by 3 & 4 biggrin
QR2: David Baxendine UNR lost to (q12) Treat Conrad Huey (PHI) WR 1359 by 0 & 1 cry
QR2: Alex Johnston UNR lost to (q15) Mauricio Astorga (MEX) WR 1818 by 2 & 4 cry

FQR: Tim Bradshaw WR 1125 v (q5) Christopher Racz (USA) WR 1073
FQR: Max Jones UNR v (q6) Vasek Pospisil (CAN) WR 1085

Max beat Pospisil to qualify smile.gif that's all I've heard so far. Max did once get a ranking point, when he beat unranked Tommy Murphy in Dublin back in June 2007. Let's hope he gets a winnable R1 draw again and gets back on the list.

Damn!

Clearly winning that point is unlikely here but shows he can qualify and have chances in the future.

In Doubles
R1 : ELIZONDO (MEX) / GALLARDO-VALLES (MEX) (4) defeated BRADSHAW (GBR) / LUDLOW (USA) 6-4 5-7 [10-7]

Looks like no. 1 seed Satschko ran away when he saw Max wink - a bit of luck that, but he's still had to beat three higher-ranked players to get back on the ranking list, so the point is well-deserved:

L32: (Q) Max Jones UNR beat (LL) Bertram Steinberger (AUT) WR 1098 by 5 & 2 biggrin
L32: Sean Thornley WR 814 beat Nikolaus Moser (AUT) WR 806 by 4 & 4 biggrin

L16: Sean Thornley WR 814 v (Q) Max Jones UNR

So that'll be a Brit in the QFs then smile

Fantastic News.

Yes he did get the bit of luck but as they say you earn your luck and by beating 3 ranked players he certainly did that.

Would not be at all surprised if he bit Sean.

Great stroke of luck for Max, and he did well to get the win and get himself back on the ranking board, and with Thornley winning as well, its great to see a guarenteed quarter finalist here.

And possibly more, as the other players in their quarter are a Mexican WC ranked 1173, and Klingemann, whose ranked outside the top 600, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility for the Brits to have a shot at beating them.
