Disappointing results from today, as only Ward makes it through to the second round
I thought you meant Josh had lost as well for a moment! Looks like Robert has resumed normal service - give Brits inside the top 500 four games, those outside the top 500 three. Jonny's the kind of player you expect to do a bit better against people like that, though not a great opponent to meet in your first match of the year, that's for sure.
I didn't expect Chris to go out in R1 (and certainly not to get bagelled, though of course he did take a set) - I hope he just had a bad day and it doesn't mean Matsukevitch is a ringer who's going to take out Wardy too!
Sorry on my part for the bad phrasing.... I presumed people knew that Josh and Neil weren't playing today!!!
I suppose Eaton's loss looks a lot more respectable when you put it that way, but then you can do that with practically every player - still, he shouldn't ever be getting bagled indoors with the serve that he has.
Expect Ward to win his 2nd round match, and Goodall to join him in round 2 tomorrow
No need to apologise, not your bad phrasing, just me assuming they were all playing today without checking, since it was a Tuesday start to the main draw.

While I wish Chris Eaton every success as his Wimbledon run clearly shows he's got the talent and the weapons, his loss doesn't surprise me at all. Talent doesn't make you a good professional tennis player if you don't consistently play at or near your best level and then move on and improve your game again. Chris' career win/loss record is 56/83 at futures/challenger level according to ITF. He only got to QFs twice in 2008 and that was in futures and he lost quite a lot in the first rounds. He just isn't playing consistently enough yet despite the fact that he clearly can be competitive at challenger level too with a handful of first round wins.
Looking for a good result from Josh today to get his year off to a good start after AOQs and for James Ward to continue his march up the rankings with some more winning runs at futures so they can both move up to challengers this year.
Good win for Josh, although anything other than this sort of scoreline would not have boded well, but looks like Pauffley just couldn't get into the match at all.
At least he got through in doubles, but unfortunately, Eaton and Marray crashed out to a Ukranian pair...
Good wins all round there. I'd have been disappointed if the guys hadn't won their singles matches. The QFs will be more of a test but, if you're in it, you can win it.
Great win for Pauffley & partner in the doubles. Fingers crossed for an almost all-Brit final.
I don't want to take anything away from Neil, but if Minar and Rosol didn't roll out the tank today, then I'm Andy Murray. (don't all ask for autographs at once LOL)

can i have an autograph? as i am the only to to ask in 17hrs and 30 mins i think that counts as not all at once.
i think your allegation that a professional sportsman might deliberately lose a match shocking, and i think you should apologise to Messers Minar & Rosso for suggestion this and also to Messers Pauffley & Fidriko for the implication they could only win by their opponents not trying.
