Melanie South is provisionaly at 98 in the rankings. The only people who can stop her getting to the top 100 are Bally, Karatantcheva, Moore & Dokic (three of them need to overtake her).

Bally - needs reach R3 to overtake Mel and secure her own spot in the top 100
Karatantcheva - needs to reach R4 (currently in R2)
Moore - needs to reach the QF (currently in R2)
Dokic - needs to reach QF (currently in R3)

If it was a better matchup I might agree, but this is a match I can see going downhill very quickly.

Very strong returning and great depth and power on her groundstrokes! Some nice netplay too!

15-0 lovely 1-2 there
15-15 set point up well but netted bh dtl
30-15 devastating forehand..maursemo reply goes wide
30-30 again she was dictating the point.. fh jus went long
40-30 good 2nd serve.. mauresmo mis-hits and goes well wide
game love sliced backhand dtl! mauresmo goes wide

0-15.. sneaky whipped crosscourt fh on the run..mauresmo hits out
15-15 deep serve and baltacha fh jus goes long
15-30 tremenous shot.. mauresmo comes in and elena passes dtl
15-40 lucky return over net.. mo reply goes long
game df from mo!

Baltacha leads 4-2

PLaying very well!! great depth and power.. and shot making!
