QR1: Paul Bishop WR 1566 v Alexandru Pasareanu (CAN) UNR
QR1: Matthew Short UNR v Marc Bruche (GER) UNR

The top seeds in each of their qualifying sections are ranked in the 600s and 700s and the other seeds in their sections in the 800s and 900s - and they have to win five matches here just to score 0.5 old ranking points (i.e. 1 new one) - you wonder why they bother, though good on them for having a go!

Will be interesting to see how Bishop does here, and next week in Hollywood, can he carry on the momentum gained at the end of last year or will it just have been a fluke.

Hope Barlow can get at least a couple of wins here - seemed to have a few results on the Spanish clay a while back so maybe the surface will suit

The ITF drawsheet suggests that Horny was actually beaten by top 1000 player Dimov, not the other way round as shown on the USTA drawsheet last night:
