Doha QF: Andy v Sergiy Stakhovsky

Andy leads the H2H 2-0 with wins in the Davis Cup in 2006 and the US Open boys final in 2004. I seem to remember there wasn't much love lost between the pair at that DC match as well.

Anyway the QF line-up in Doha is: -
Nadal v Monfils
Roddick v Hanescu
Murray v Stakhovsky
Federer v Kohlschreiber

Typical...Nadal gets stuffed in the other half of the draw....Fed is 6-2 5-5 v PK but at least PK has broken back in the second set...!

Kohli has 3 set points at *6-3 in the 2nd set tiebreak, then managed to spectacularly choke and lose the next 5 points. I don't think of him as the German Gasquet for nothing! LOL

Muzza up next.

They trade breaks and it is 2-2. Andy broken from 40-0 up. If Kohlschreiber is the poor mans Gasquet then Stakhovsky is the poor mans Kohlschreiber!

Andy warned for receiving instruction from coach.
But that really stired him into life

Andy breaks at 4-4 and then serves the set out 6-4, bailing himself out with some big serving including two aces from 0-30 down.

Umpire did Andy a good turn there - it 'got him wild' and he then took 10 of next 12 points to win the first set.

And was he getting instruction from Miles? Doesn't seem very Andy to me, usually he just bawls them out and they sit there stony-faced!

Andy said all Miles said was 'come on' while the umpire disagreed and said he saw Miles' lips move and say a few more things.

Andy leads 6-4, 4-0* and some really good tennis is being played at times.

Stakh must be livid with ump for making Muzza angry ... that's 7 or 8 games in a row he's won since isn't it?

7 games yeah, but I think Stakh might have been the one who said that Miles was giving advice. Not completely sure about that as I wasn't really watching it but I thought I heard the commentator say that and Andy said 'come on' after a Stakh double fault suggesting he wasn't very happy with him.

Andy was broken at *5-0 (surprise, surprise) and Stakh holds for 5-2.

looks like no love lost here, shaping nicely for a feisty DC tie.

Andy wins 6-4, 6-2; was a even match until 4-4 but then Andy got pumped up, there were some loose shots from Stakh and then there was only one winner.
