Anne's 2009 schedule

So far:

Auckland
Hobart
Aussie Open singles,  doubles (with Mervana Jugic-Salkic)
Fed Cup
Open Gaz de France
Memphis
Indian Wells
Miami

Ive decided to play only WTA events in the first half of the year as my ranking is high enough now to get into the main draw of most of them, she explained.

If Im going to climb up the rankings then I need to beat higher-ranked opponents and I seem to do better in the bigger events.

In the short term I want to break into the top 50. I worked a lot on my strength in the off-season and I definitely feel a lot stronger and more powerful now. Ive been trying to improve the variety on my serve too.

Good schedule i think. The memphis tournament i think will be somewhere Anne will do well. Its indoor and an old tier 3 so wont be too strong.

I'd like to see her pick up a few wins in Indian Wells and Miami aswell.

I can imagine her having a couple of good wins in Miami and Indian Wells combined. Third round in both would not be beyond her at the very least, it wholly depends on the draw she gets but still...

Agreed.

She has had quite a bit of success over in the states.

Anne needs to know she can beat the best to move to the next level, I think. I would be happy for her to get knocked out in the second round of any of those tournaments if she can beat a high seed in the first round.

It's really exciting to be able to regularly follow GBR players in decent WTA tournaments.

I know. Its been almost 10 years but it feels like much longer.

With Laura coming through and aa few others like Naomia C and Tara i think we may have a few on WTA level in the next 2/3 years.

I think its a good schedule minus Torhout. Why play an indoor challenger event just before the clays season?
