The first of the season's 9 Grade A tournaments (including Grand Slams) is the weakest in terms of rankings, given the timing and location of the event. Heather Watson is the main British hope here, being seeded 5. The top seed is the player she beat in the Yucatan Cup final - world number 6 Ana Bogdan

From what i have seen i like Heathers draw, nothing to be scared of. Big chance for some big points and a big move in the rankings.

Nothing to be scared of, but she will have strong opposition in the QF if she wins through today, as she will either play her doubles partner and number 2 seed Ajla Tomljanovic or an American (Nicole Gibbs) who reached the final of the Canadian G1.

No it will affect her seeding.

But remember players who are top 300 in WTA are guranteed a seeding in junior slams. Don't know who that will affect.

I think Heather will be seeded, it's now a question of how high. I would like her to grab a top 8 seeding.

Just one player on the initial acceptance list had a high enough ITF ranking to be pushed up into a high seeding - Ksenia Pervak.
