Player End of Year

Keothavong 55
South 115
O'Brien 135
Baltacha 130
Stoop 150
Cavaday 165
Webley-Smith 250
Robson 185
Smith 305
Elliot 255
Broady 270
Fitzpatrick 300
Curtis 400
Carreras 470
Rae 500
Moore 400

In terms of getting another brit inside the top 100 in 2009 I'm not convinced it will happen. Mel could probably achieve it with one win at the Aus Open but realistically who could she actually beat in the main draw? I'm hopeful that Naomi Broady will pick up points on the grass taking her inside the top 300. Laura will have a couple of outstanding events and a few near misses. Tara will find her form and move to around 400. Hopefully Naomi Cavaday will get back on track. Georgie will continue the good form she showed during the late summer of 2008 and get to 150. Otherwise I'm not expecting too much change.

Nothing apart from the fact she has a Swedish mom and a Swedish doubles partner (and also has the Swedish looks). She could easily make the Swedish Fed Cup team. But as it stands she should recieve wild cards into Surbiton and Wimbledon qualies as well as maybe Birmingham/Eastbourne qualies and the possibility of main draw wild cards if she gets to top 250 so maybe that will convince her to stay. But there is a WTA tour event in Sweden as well and less competiton for ITF WCs.

Depends how desperate she is to play Fed Cup I guess.

Cos her doubles buddy Johanna Larsson told her how great it is to be swedish. I guess.

With that ginger mane and the unexotic surname (same as mine...) she hardly fits the scandinavian stereotype, but she probably knows her heritage a little better than I do!

Anne had a much better 2nd half so she could get inside the top 45 by Wimbledon if she continues her recent form but she will be pushed to improve on that as the year goes on, so:-

Keothavong 49
South 96
O'Brien 140
Baltacha 152
Stoop 160
Cavaday 178
Webley-Smith 185
Elliott 195
Robson 248

Jocelyn Rae and Tara Moore would have both finished significantly higher if they hadn't both lost their best results of the year to the over complex set of rules. Tara will still be limited to the number of events she plays but Jocelyn should be able to play a full set this year. On the basis that they will repeat those best results several times this year I think they could both end the year inside the top 300, so:-

Rae 249
Moore 280
Broady 295
Smith 310
Fitzpatrick 340
Clarke 350
Curtis 420
Windley 450
Vickers 470
Khan 480

Heather Watson could start playing senior events this year and should record a few good results so:-
Watson 495
Carreras 500

Both Sarah Borwell and Mel South should make it into the top 100 of the doubles but because the rules are different for doubles the totals rise quite steeply around 100, so:-
Borwell 92
South 98

I'm feeling very optomistic for 2009.

I think we will have around 20 girls top 500 between 14-17 top 400. At least 10 top 300, 7/8 top 200.

Anne will at some point break into the top 50 but may fall back a bit but will be roughly.

I see Mel in the top 100 at some point. the grass season coudl cement her place there.

I see Geoergie joining Bally and Katie within the top 15 around the 120 mark.

I think Naomi Cavaday will burst through, top 150 is a good guess but if she hits the form we all know she's capable of she could pass Anne.

Laura could be anywhere between 300-150, she just need to build on her game and keep developing and the ranking will take care of its self.

I see a big climb for Tara and Joss and the whole 1990 possey will be pushing towards the top 300.

I see that Naomi Cavaday has now withdrawn from both USA $25K tournaments on 12th and 19th Jan. It looks as if whatever her problem is has still not been sorted.
