From a quick perusal (as far as that is possible with such a tome) some key changes relevant to British players are:
1) Number of counting tournaments reduced from 17 to 16. This will impact slightly on those players like Mel and Katie who play a lot of tournaments, and have a 17th tournament greater than 1 point.
2) A large increase in the number of points earned for winning matches. On average points are roughly doubled, but with some variation in Grand Slam/Tour events: eg winning a round in a Grand Slam goes up from 60 to 100, whilst in Qualifying one win is worth 40 rather than 15 points.
This will have a major impact on any player unlucky to be injured in the early part of next year, or starting the season poorly. In previous years they could have held on to their ranking if they did not have significant points to defend, but next year standing still in points will mean a drop in ranking.
The number of points required to reach a particular ranking will rise rapidly during the year. As a result Anne is no longer practically guaranteed a place in the French Open and Wimbledon (assuming they do not recalculate points for existing tournaments, which is virtually impossible since some of the Tour level Tiers have disappeared).
For some reason downloads from the WTA site never work on my computer. Is there like a table of points (inc. ITFs if possible) that someone can copy for me?
EDIT: Thanks to ABC (well not exactly but he tried) and DavidC for the information.
I'm pleased to see that the WTA decided to double everyone's points, which makes points gained last year reasonably comparable, thus virtually ensuring that Anne gains direct entry to the French Open and Wimbledon

I don't really get that, I thought they did actually recalculate the points. Because look at the ranking system here: http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/2/rankings/singles_numeric.asp
And as a result there has been some movement since the new points were calculated - I think she still is virtually guarenteed a place into those tournaments, because its not like previous years, the new points have been changed from the sart - there are no massive head starts for people who start the year off well.

Well it is coming up with the 2009 points on my computer.
Sorry to be thick but the link still does not work for me. I go to the old page as used all last year. All other pages, ie for rankings etc, seem up to date. Has anyone got another link I could try or a way of refreshing/making the page update?
Thanks for the 2008 file, that's great. I'm glad one of the suggestions worked too - I wasn't sure about F5, it must just be the equivalent of a normal refresh.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
All the GB players had the points doubled in all of their 16 best events from last year. That includes all the times they collected 1 point from a tournament. However it means that players who enter the rankings this year will take rather longer to collect enough points to get direct entry into the main draws of tournaments because they will be competing against players who got 2 points instead of 1 from equivalent events.
