Girls: Junior Orange Bowl 2008

The major event for under 14s and under 12s has plenty of British interest. The Qualifying draws were a massive 256 (including some byes). Apart from any qualifiers or LLs in the main draws:

U12 R128

Estelle Cascino France v. Lauryn John-Baptiste United Kingdom
Mirabelle Njoze United Kingdom v. Gabrielle Smith United States
Eden Silva United Kingdomv. Gloria Liang Canada
Katie Boulter United Kingdom v. Anastasija Homutova Latvia
Claudia Bustamante Ecuador v. Eleanor J. Dean  United Kingdom
Q v. Jemma Buckler United Kingdom

Eleanor Dean is down as USA on the drawsheet, but I am confident that she hasn't changed nationality in the last 2 weeks.

U14 R128

Emily Gibbens United Kingdom v. Daniella Daniel United States
Caitlin Hindmarsh United Kingdom v. Q
Laura Andrade United States v. (17) Joanna Henderson  United Kingdom

There are 32 seeds including 16 players seeded 17

U14 R128

Emily Gibbens United Kingdom d. Daniella Daniel United States 6-4 6-2
Sonya Latycheva d. Caitlin Hindmarsh United Kingdom 2-6 6-3 6-4
(17) Joanna Henderson United Kingdom d. Laura Andrade United States 6-4 6-4

U14 R64

(9) Sanae Ota Japan v Emily Gibbens United Kingdom
Sachia Vickery United States v (17) Joanna Henderson United Kingdom

Sachia Vickery is a star 13 year old Bollettieri player, who really should be the top seed - she isn't because she normally plays under 18 events, where she is already just outside 100

Under 12 results to follow

Good going. I'm hoping both their runs continue. Could be an all british semi-final

I've been told that Eleanor won and plays Indy de Vroome in the semis, but there is no official confirmation of this yet.

Well done Eleanor

certainly worse things to be doing on the shortest day of year than playing tennis in Florida!

Eleanor apparently lost her semi but it was "a very good game, both players played magnificently"
