Forum Members Awards

Its that time of year again where we reflect on the memories and achievements of the past 12 months, and following the success of last year's Forum Awards, here is your chance to get your voice in recognising the many members who visit this board.

This year's categories are:
1. Funniest Poster of the Year
2. Most Optomistic Poster of the Year
3. Forum Reporter of the Year
4. Best Avatar
5. Most Knowledgable Poster of the Year
6. Most Memorable Moment of the Year
7. Most Controversial Poster
8. Best Newcomer (*)
9. The Professional Insight Award (Favourite professional player who posts)
10. Overall Poster of the Year

The voting lines are open until Midnight 31st December, so you have plenty of time to get your votes in. Either PM me or write your replies as a direct reply. This is YOUR chance to get your voice heard over fellow members. biggrin

(*) Edit: thought it might help to identify which posters are actually new this year - those with 200+ posts are (in joining date order) Silver, the Hoose, Peter too, Smidster, Vandenburg.

1. Funniest Poster of the Year - eblunt (a)
2. Most Optimistic Poster of the Year - Johnnylad (tho' salmon if we were limiting it to juniors!)
3. Forum Reporter of the Year - Drew (b)
4. Best Avatar - can I say the Count's, even tho I suggested part of it?
5. Most Knowledgable Poster of the Year - Akhenaten (with the help of his brilliant rankings database)
6. Most Memorable Moment of the Year - Masta K's "The horns of Russia to beat you off!!! Rams The Rage does not suffice on you!!!""
7. Most Controversial Poster - Stircrazy (or did you mean controversial about the actual tennis wink)
8. Best Newcomer - Peter too for overall quality (Hoose, silver, et al are very funny though smile)
9. The Professional Insight Award (Favourite professional player who posts) - Seator (c)
10. Overall Poster of the Year - Akhenaten (d)

If there were categories for ...

Best double act: "Sheddie and the Count"
The Miles Kasiri "where's he bu**ered off to?" award: Sheddie

(a) only just ahead of the Hoose, the Count and many others who've made me laugh, but how could I not give it to eblunt who came up with (just to take the RG pick 'em thread) ...

- (to imo): "Oh dear. You've used the phrase justify my faith in him and the name of a French player in the same sentence!"

- "looks like I'm going to have to spend an our in front of the RG live scoreboard to nurse these babies home before I can relax again."

Did he invent GEM too or was that the Hoose?

(b) Others, like wolf, have done a fab job on the bt.net home page, but it's always hard to know exactly who's done what - perhaps home page reporters should be allowed to put their names on their reports? OldEchoMan deserves a mention here too, even if he doesn't report on the forum itself!

(c) plus Fitzy, of course, but Edward deserves a mention for quality, coherent posts and being brave enough to enter the Cincy pick 'em ... and win it!

(d) so hard to choose, since half a dozen or more people here would probably be worthy of poster of the year on any other board, but Akhenaten's rankings are fascinating, he's created a really good resource with the database that underlies them and his caricature of all of us was brilliant smile

... and so of course he pops up in with that long-awaited 18000th post just as I'm writing that. smile

Apologies for making this very neat thread so untidy btw!

well well well, look who has stuck hsi head over the parapet - time to take aim!!

and Steven that is Hedge betting at its worst - a blatant attempt to curry favour in the overall poster of the year category. as a result i alter my vote to Akhenaten (i would have voted for him more often, but having a hard to spell name doesnt go down well in my books) biggrin.gif

i was talking about taking aim at Sheddie in the 1st part smile.gif

Hmm, you are right, i think i have used the wrong analogy there to describe you attempting to butter up the board members.

@ JL, you seem to be sweeping the board on the most optimistic front. i must have missed something somewhere down the line confused.gif

@ Drew, who is this mysterious Stephen as best overall poster and joint for most knowledgeable? Sounds like a shady type, not to be trusted. I think if posters on the board go with some weird, nonsensical name rather than their real one it means they have something to hide.
