Katie holds for 5-3* and will 'receive for the match'. smile.gif

I think that's 9 breaks in 18 games so far, though the stats on the AO site gave up the ghost after the 1st set.

Match point - come on! Don't put yourself/us through the agony of having to serve for the match.

Routine as expected. (As routine as a Katie match gets that is). Hopefully she's saving her 8-6 in the 3rd epic for the final qualifying round.

I definitely would not recommend following another Katie match on livescore then, because that was very tame in comparison to some. biggrin

40/50 points defended.

Excellent results for all the girls. Obviously that win by Elena did spur Katie on as someone suggested it might.

Thanks for the scores - always interesting to read through for those too lazy to stay up. Next week I shall make an effort but need to build up.

Summary:

QR1: (q19) Elena Baltacha WR 134 beat Anastasija Sevastova (LAT) WR 193 (CH=191 10/2008) by 3 & 4 smile
QR1: Katie O'Brien WR 160 beat Sandra Zahlavova (CZE) WR 164 (CH=139 5/2007) by 5 & 3 smile
QR1: Georgie Stoop WR 216 beat Alexa Glatch (USA) WR 150 (= CH) by 6-0 7-6(5)
biggrin

QR2: (q19) Elena Baltacha WR 134 v Carly Gullickson (USA) WR 151 (= CH)

These two met twice last summer, including at exactly the same stage of the last slam. Elena lost in three sets in Lexington but then won in three sets in USO qualifying. Gullickson also lost to Anne but beat Katie in 2008.

QR2: Katie O'Brien WR 160 v (q3) Julie Ditty (USA) WR 115 (CH 89 3/2008)

Since the start of September, Ditty has won a 75K and reached three 50K Finals and Katie lost to her 1 & 4 when they met in 2006. Ditty lost to both Anne and Georgie last year, which should give Katie some hope.

QR2: Georgie Stoop WR 216 v Kathrin Wörle (GER) WR 162 (CH 138 6/2006)

Wörle's only recent result against a Brit was a loss to Anne, which does not tell us that much.

Just noticed that Georgie doesn't have any points to defend until March, so with this result she's sure to break into the top 200 again by the end of the AO! She should be in the top 190, thus beating her old career high of 198. biggrin
