Would you believe the last time we had four GB women in a main draw without needing WCs was only a year before the last time we had two?
1992 US Open - 3 DAs (Jo Durie, Sara Gomer, Monique Javer) all lost in R1 and Clare Wood qualified and beat Jo before going out in R2 to Sabine Appelmans, so there were no GB wins against non-Brits in the main draw.
The last time we had more than two Brits in the main draw at the AO was also 1992, when we had 5 DAs - Clare Wood, Sam Smith (in her first successful period before she went AWOL), Monique Javer and Sara Gomer all went out in R1 and Jo Durie reached R2.
Now to find the last time two GB girls qualified for the same slam ..

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
The last time we had two GB women qualify for the same slam was in 1990, coincidentally also at the AO and also joining two DAs in the main draw.
Back then, they all avoided seeds in R1 and either lost there or the first timethey had to play a seed. The two DAs were Jo Durie, who got to R2, and Sara Gomer, who lost in R1, while the qualifiers back then were Clare Wood, who lost in R1 and Sarah Loosemore, who made it to R3. Amanda Grunfeld was also in the FQR where she lost to Clare.
So, this is the best GB women's performance in qualifying for a slam for 19 years and here's a full summary of it:
