Live streaming (??) mentioned on LTA survey

Has anyone else here completed the LTA survey? (can't find it on their site, but I got emailed about it with a link that looks like it might be unique to the email address it's sent to so I probably can't post it here)

The reason I ask is that one question asks you "Which of these benefits pof British Tennis Membership are you aware of?" and one of the options it lists is:

"Access to live streaming of selected tournaments through the website"

(cue eyes popping out of head! ... quite painful LOL)

It then asks which three benefits is the most valuable and gives the same list.

There were a couple of other things on the list that I wasn't aware of as being BTM benefits, e.g. a Queen's ballot (I thought there was only a separate LTA ballot for Wimby), a birthday card signed by a prominent player (though possibly they only do that for the kids, which would be reasonable enough and sounds like a nice idea), etc, so what I'm wondering is:

- is anyone aware of them already live streaming from some events? (even if possibly not the ones most people here might actually want to see)

... or could it just be that the questionnaire has been designed by a marketing company that hasn't quite got the point and they aren't doing it yet but are actually thinking of starting to do it in future. Now there's a thought ... smile.gif (if so, let's hope the ambiguity on the questionnaire doesn't result in people not choosing it as a top benefit because they think they should only choose benefits they are aware of in their top three!)

There wasn't really anywhere you could add in free format text, but by saying I wasn't aware of it being a benefit and then selecting it as the no. 1 benefit, I'm hoping they might get the right message.

There is a survey link on the website HERE (link on right) but ithat question is worded "which of the following would you expect to be provided as benefits that come with British Tennis Membership?"

I suggest everyone fills it in but quite honestly just to get live (or almost live) results of British events would be great! Just shows how out of touch they are doesnt it?

I gather that many people like me decided that introduction last year of a membership fee PLUS £30 for Ace was too much and dropped it altogether and they most probably are paying £1000s  for an agency to seek answers  that we could have given for free. I see that they are now offering Ace at £19 but I am not sure if that includes British Tennis Mag as there is no mention of it. I used to consider that I subscribed to British tennis mag and got Ace freewink. Do you know if BT mag is supplied Steven, as you have obviously continued membership?

edit - Link changed as no longer worked direct

I did read somewhere they are ditching the British Tennis mag and incorparating the Brit stuff into Ace.

Not that I am bothered as I doubt I will be renewing next year as I only used the membership to play in LTA tournaments, but as I am no longer a junior there is not much point.

The BT mag is still supplied. I'd rather they kept that and ditched Ace, which is glossier but much less interesting. I agree with you, MJD, that live scores or even immediate results after each match or each set would be a huge improvement for Futures and the last two of those options would surely be easy enough to provide.

Are you sure they are not just referring to live streaming of, say, Wimbledon, which is available through the website?

Thats a good point John, most of the subscribers probably wont care about futures and challengers anyway. it could be relating to really just Wimby and Queens.
But i didn tknow that the LTA streamed them, i though just the BBC and wimby themselves did it.

For everyone that was wondering about the ACE magazine, Sarah Borwell gives a bit of an insight on GBTG here http://www.gbtennisgirls.com/messageboard.asp (on the previous page there is also an insight of Sarah's plans for 2009).

"I forgot to tell everyone, you should subscribe to the new ACE Magazine! The first edition contains a whole load of new and interesting stories, with a great interview by Annie K! She spent the day like a true model, at a photo shoot, having her hair and make up done, wearing designer clothes! Each edition will have interviews with the top girls and also my own column, which as always will be about all my trials and tribulations on the tour! The new layout of the mag is certainly a lot more entertaining than the last and its a lot of up close and personal with the various British tennis players!"

About time for a British publication! But does that mean BT News is replaced I wonder?
