Actually I think that is an encouraging performance from Ward...Since reaching that final months ago, in about his 2nd event, he has done very little and so to push WR 330 so hard is a good effort and shows we shouldn't give up on him just yet.

I agree, that's probably his most encouraging performance since that run to the Final - which was indeed in only his 2nd appearance in a main draw, though he'd got close to qualifying many times before that.
If he could find more sets like the 2nd set today and more weeks like that one in May, who knows how high he could climb.

To add insult to injury (or illness), the 2nd seed who would have been Jamie's first opponent got beaten 7-6(4) 6-1 by Takanyi Garanganga, the Zimbabwean lucky loser who replaced him!
It'll be interesting to see whether a week's rest is enough for Jamie - he's on the entry list for next week's Future in the Dom. Rep. too.
