Today's Net Post at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/tennis/article7061724.ece leads with the Parliamentary committee's 'investigation' into British Tennis this week. He's trying to work out who's been called to testify there and gets stuck at Tony Hawks and Petch. Hmm.
He also rolls out Tony Pickard "the only Brit alive to have coached a player to a Wimbledon title" (he omits to mention that Pickard was also the DC captain who shared the 4 losses in a row record with Lloydy until JL broke it with the loss to Lithuania ...), who has a few things to say, though the first person to comment takes a well-aimed shot at him.
All good fun ... if it wasn't so serious.

It is certainly a gamble by the Times group. Newspapers are not making money and a lot more people are getting their news on line. I don't think it will work unless all the quality press follow suit, which they may well do. I have to say I don't like reading a whole paper online, but it is useful to look at certain articles. I wouldn't be parting with £104 a year for one newspaper though! Not in addition to paying for the paper ones! It could make it difficult to access archive articles when doing research and as such will limit the great value of the internet as an information source.
OEM certainly leads the complaints about the coaching structure/funding though many others have spoken out. For all the parlimentary review that took place, it does seem that the LTA will carry on as before. Even if not wholsale cullings, it would have been nice to read that they were at least going to make a few changes to the way that operated.
