FQR: Paul Bishop UNR v Michael Rehrl (AUT) UNR

Rehrl qualified for a Future for the first time in Managua last week, though his biggest claim to fame is probably having beaten Marko Djokovic in a junior event last year! However, he once lost to Gent Reha (a Brit apparently) also in juniors.

This is Paul's 45th attempt to qualify for a Future or Satellite in nearly 7 years, and his four previous forays as far as the FQR have all been straight sets defeats. I doubt he's ever had a better chance than this to make it to a main draw.

There's no stopping Paul now (*) - having finally reached his first main draw after years of trying, going a set down to a top 700 player who has reached a Futures Final and two semis this year wasn't going to stop him ... biggrin

L32: (Q) Paul Bishop UNR beat Miguel Cicenia (VEN) WR 685 by 6-7(4) 7-6(4) 6-2 biggrin

L16: (Q) Paul Bishop UNR v (1) Carlos Salamanca (COL) WR 341

(*) Ok, so Salamanca might have something to say about that! wink

Fantastic to see another player on the rankings.

Certainly seemed that he has improved an awful lot and this point goes to show that hard work can reap the benefits in the long run.

Lets just hope it wasn't a fluke and he can get a few more points.

Predictable result, but the Brishop put up quite a fight in the 2nd set and he's got to be delighted with this week: smile.gif
