Melanie South reached the final of the last 3 25K events in Australia. Trying to emulate Mel are Jade Curtis (the only direct acceptance) along with Jade Windley, Natasha Khan and Jocelyn Rae, who have to qualify.

Wejnert could be quite a hurdle...She has reached the final is last 4 junior events and will only be Unranked for another week as this will be 3rd counter
jade's opponent was a top 50 junior who beat Tara a couple of months back. Not a massive shock as Jade doesn't seem to have the goods we all expected her to develop.
Good win for Joss.
Tasha has a hamstring/thigh injury, reporter on tennisforum says it looked pretty sore.
I wonder why Jade and Jocelyn didn't renew their Wimbledon partnership. It seemed to work pretty well with Jocelyn using her reach and height to provide the proverbial brick wall at the net while Jade ran anything down at the baseline. The only weakness seemed to be when they were forced to swap positions and Jade got lobbed or Jocelyn was forced to run.
So close for Jos, but a great effort. Looks like her big serve kept her in it there but just couldn't win the points that mattered in the tie-breaks. More disapointment for her in the doubles:
I've been a little dissapointed with Joss progress this year, i thought she'd be around 500 by now. This will take her to 650ish. heres hoping for a bigger year in 2009.
