RE: Players to watch in 2009

That's ok Drew (ps its Jac)

when people write boggo off that's when he tends to do well :)

also we should not forget this year will see the introduction of the ATP's new points system!

Slabba has over 40 points to fall off in the remainder of 2008, which just kept him off my big sliders list for 2009.

Off topic I know, but is there a description somewhere of exactly how the new points will be allocated next year by the ATP? I'm just vaguely aware of something called about only 8 Masters tournamnets and getting 1000 point if you win one. Thanks.

It's all a bit annoying, as I've only just got the hang of the existing points system.

there's a thread on here somewhere where we discuss it at length, which includes all of the info publicly available on the new points (as far as we are aware)

Hey, you should be so grateful, apparently much of the idea is to make it all easier to get the hang of  smile

Well, folk make their best efforts at deciphering it all here :

Are we likely to get Morgan Phillips back in 2009, 'cos if so, hope he can finally have a consistent run without injuries and climb quickly.

*inclined to agree*
Sorry Boggo but... well... I have two words: Arvind Parmar.

Nothing against the poor guy but he never had that killer instinct and was always ALWAYS so close but never quite there.

I want Baker to come back ready but I fear he will fall heavily before rising again to possibly 400 if things go reasonably. Eaton should rise before Wimby and then could suffer quite badly unless he successfully defends his points (depends hugely on the draw)

Otherwise: Dan, Dan and Marcus with Wardy to come on strong. I fear Josh may stagnate slightly to begin with next year. I don't predict anything terribly major for him as such. Could pull off a good win here or there... dunno.

i think goodall could get to 150 next year
if picks up easy points in week challanger events(so basically what hes done this year) he could do ok-ish
but i think ward could have a crack at top 100 next year-ambitious i know
as for baker i think we all want a steady year, maybe top 300???
i also think this could be bloomers last year

the one mystery tho is slabba, just dont no what to predict.
