Players to watch in 2009

I was wondering who the board though would be the british men to watch in 2009.
Personally my 5 would be

1st Andy Murray
2nd Dan Evans
3rd James Ward
4th Ross Hutchings
5th Colin Flemming

What do other members think? Are there them some players ranked lower down or Juniors not yet ranked that might excite next year.

Players that I think will improve to a higher level include Andy Murray, James Ward and Dan Evans.

There has been threads where we guess end of year rankings for players though, and most tend to be woefully out. Very few players seem to overachieve from these shores, more a case of not quiet living up to your high hopes!

I agree with the Fleming and Willis brigade.

CF because he's clearly underranked since he's got all his points in a few months; MW because (from what I've seen/heard of the GBR youth) of all the young guns I think he has the most room for improvement.

I think Murray is due a form slump so I don't know how much he'll push on next year. My guess is that he will pass Nole as some point but not Rafa or Fed - but some other youngster will probably have a purple patch in the summer and contest 3rd with him.

I think the 1990 brigade will all move up massively next year

Colin Flemming looks back to his best.

I'm hoping to see Jaime Baker get back to where he was before and then kick on.

Not got any dramatic new names to suggest.

I'd say Goodall, Ward, Evans and Fleming.

Would though be great if in addition to Evans. the 1990 brigade did indeed make massive progress.

As for Murray, yeah, he's good, but I only see him going up 2 or 3 places  wink.gif

Men to watch are Ward, Evo, Coxy, Willis and Smethurst.............might throw George Morgan into the hat as well!

Men to fall flat in 2009 will be Boggo & Slabba, i predict quite a slide in their current rankings!

Slabba has over 40 points to fall off in the remainder of 2008, which just kept him off my big sliders list for 2009.
