well done slabinsky, tho he does have supberb record in challanger 1st rounds!!!
You're right about that. Slabba has now won 10 of his last 12 Challenger 1st rounds.
Very good win over Sirianni!
I noticed Sirianni getting on now, he's 33 (11 yrs older than Slabba), thought he might be in career decline, but actually he's at a career high ranking of 138 (well 2 weeks ago). He'd only spent 1 week inside the Top 200 before a year ago.
Hopefully Goodall can beat Lugassy, to set up a match with Slabba.
I'm surprised at Boggo's loss , thought this was going to be his bounce back tournie, he often goes through streaks of 1st round losses then comes back with a tournie win. Thought this was going to be it.
I've often thought Boggo should drop down to play a futures once or twice a year, just to get some wins and confidence under his belt when he goes through these losing streaks. But he's not played a futures for years.
shows how shoddy the bbc are not bothering to mention slabbas win!!
Looks like the BBC spotted the bar that said 'contempt' on it and decided to duck beneath it. What gratuitous crap from them. Slabba's win was at least as newsworthy as Boggo's loss and surprising as his loss was, why do they have to keep getting at Boggo when he's played as many tournaments as any other Brit this year and easily racked up the most air miles.
Edit: I meant to add that I realise we have a go at Boggo too from time to time, but the difference is that we balance it by putting at least as much emphasis on when he does well.

It's called lazy journalism. Why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
Just to add to that - GB top 30 ordered by tournaments played this year (just Q, just MD or Q+MD all count as a single tournament), ties split by ranking points gained, up to and including yesterday:

29 Jonathan Kinsella 11
27 Richard Bloomfield 122 27 Ken Skupski 33 27 Sean Thornley 18 27 Joshua Milton 22
25 Andy Murray 3580 25 Neil Bamford 26 25 Dan Cox 16 25 Burnham Arlidge 14
23 Edward Seator 19

i don't mind when the bbc report boggo's losses, but its the fact that they never report his (or other brits for that matters) wins at challenger level.

Re the BBC, last veek must have been so annoying for them. So many wins and so few losses to talk about.
But, at least this week they got some early losses to mention, and hey let's just disregard any wins.
Sorry, I was giving them the benefit of even being aware of all that success last week that was going on, well apart from Laura and a coutesy line or two about Anne.
My info is from the Dutch tennissite www.tennisactueel.nl. There they also have a reaction from Koning. He said that it was a good match, but in the beginning of the match it was hard for him to keep himself concentrated after the dead of his granddad last week. After a quick break in the second set the match was more easy.

Unlucky for both Daniel & Richard, both close matches - promising for Dan that he appears to only be a point/game or two away from competing with Challenger level players.
