Don't be so bl***y rude to someone whose first language is obviously not English. angered.gif

Very well said, helki, I read through that with increasing annoyance, and XCW4EVA's subsequent posts are as bad.

If I hadn't come to your post, i would have posted similar myself.

Empathy and modesty don't exactly seem to be his strong points !

One or two others, I didn't think were exactly helpful either, but XCW4EVA takes the biscuit in the rudeness stakes.

Masta K, I am sorry that you had to wait so long for your result.

It is not the fault of people here.

The problem is really that many British tournaments are very bad for giving out scores and results.

I am also sorry that some people here were rude to you and made fun of you.

Normally, folk here are very good.

Nothing to add. Indiana covers it well.

Lets be accomodating as possible.

Lets move on please.......end.

And reading the whole topic doesn't seem to be yours
He started this scenario off:
1:We told him not to demand scores, because it is rude.
2: He sent back some poor English that was supposed to be an insult
3: He repeatedly insinuated or called me stupid after i told him that his comments were simply not making any sense, you seem to ignore all this in your post? Should I have just let it go?

If you dont like the fact that i stood up for myself and for the forum then frankly i couldn't care less. Perhaps you would like more people coming onto the forum demanding scores, in which case you can bow to them all you like and then this forum will end up like MTF with people demanding scores every two seconds.

I read it all, mate.

And yes, Masta K was a bit abrupt with his initial post, but that could have been dealt with quite pleasantly, with say a mild, "well if you say please". It was entirely unnecessary to be so comfontational.

I am also sad about some of the fun made of him by you and others.

I repeat that you were lacking in empathy for a person without the language skills and I am also aware that some folk from some other countries and cultures can appear to our sensitivies to be rather abrupt, when they don't relly realise this.

You may be at university, so well educated in that respect.  Hopefully in time you will more develop some other skills.

Anyway, thank you for spending so many lines trying to justify yourself, when of course you couldn't care less  smile

Sorry, Drew, I know you'ed like to have moved on, anyway...

Before you get too excited, it's worth remembering that while form in Futures has been great, form in Challengers (until Rimouski last week, anyway) has been dire this autumn.

Dont get too excited. why not, I'm an optimist not a realist biggrin

The winner of Josh/Slabba to join Bloomers and Dan Evans in the quarter finals is what I say.

That's fine then smile.gif and yes, that would be a good outcome. Slabba beating Sirianni has certainly upped the chances of a quarter-finalist is that section hugely!

As for what's been taking up the last couple of pages, obviously I agree that we should try to be helpful and not rude when a new poster has difficulties with English.

However, while those who came onto the thread after the Masta saga had been going on for a while no doubt realised that's what the problem was, I wasn't immediately aware when he first started posting that this was the problem, I thought he was just trolling after nobody would give him an instant answer about the Qureshi score. I'm still not totally convinced he wasn't trolling, to be honest - I've tried back-translating into Russian to try to make sense of some of it, and that doesn't help.

Later on, it all seemed to be a bit of fun, especially when I thought he was another Qureshi fan - we've got one of those on the GR board (Imran) who also seemed like a troll at first but is just a crazy fan ("why didn't Wimbledon give Qureshi a wild card, it's not fair," etc, etc smile) and I'd miss him if he disappeared now - we have lots of fun baiting each other when Qureshi's about to play a Brit biggrin

Anyway, I'm not sure why it then got so heated, but hopefully we can draw a line under it and remember the good bits - "To you in Russia, horns on would beat off!!! Rams... The Rage does not suffice on you!!!" has to be one of the quotes of the year. biggrin

In defence of XCW4EVA the guy was very frustrating, Indiana I am sure you are implying that I was also unhelpful in this situation. Masta K was indeed very rude and you may say that this was due to a lack of English, I am sure you will agree that repeated exclamation makes the same point in any language. I think he deserved some good natured banter in return. It was when his reply went over the top that XCW4EVA then did the same.

To put an end to this, this is a great forum where the regular members should not get involved in petty squabbles over a new members (he probably only joined to get 1 result) deliberate attempts to instigate an argument.

PS I wrote this before reading Stevens post, good point well made mate.

That really is disgusting, Slabinsky's win was far more newsworthy and at the very least deserved a mention - but I am not surprised, that is how the media works mustn't let the general public know of success except for one player who continues to disappoint them by winning!
