smile.gif at an excellent win for Natasha. Jade will slip out of the top 500 (and be down on 2008 as a whole) next Monday, she could really do with some points.

I thought Jade woulc kick on this year but shes round about the same place. Although she barely played any senior events for the first few months of the year.

Hopefully next year she'll get more consistent with her results.

I'll second Steven's smiley for Natashasmile. Haring beat Katie in French Open qualies last year, so good to see Natasha getting the sort of win she managed more frequently last year before her stress fracture.

SF: (1) Melanie South WR 116 v (4) Ksenia Palkina (KGZ) WR 224

Today's win should be enough to lift Mel another couple of places on Monday week. It looks like Kazakhstan isn't the only former Soviet Republic beginning with K to have appropriated the odd Russian player!

I missed this. Great form from Natasha! With results like this she'll be up to her career high again in no time.

Now she is about 40pts away from top 100 - On that basis I think a win this week and another next week would surely do it.

What kind of chance does she have of getting straight into AO?

She's got a fair chance if she keeps on winning this month, but she does have 25K semi and QF points coming off in the next couple of weeks which will make it harder to move up.

As far as I can make out the only points Mel still has to lose this year from her 17 best results are November 25th Mount Gambia 7 points and December 18th Nuriootpa 12 point. However the Mount Gambia result is her equal 17th best so will be replaced by her present tournament 12 points. Her 17th best result will then be March 16th Kalgoorlie 7 points.

Pune will replace Nuriootpa which ended Nov 18th not Dec 18th.

That 12 point semi was actually in Nov last year not Dec, the info on WTA website is wrong. The 12 points should come off the same week as this lot goes on.

AO DA looks like a probability now if she keeps up this form. Top 100 is within reach aswell. Unless she wins both this and Kolkata, thats more likely to happend after Toyota points are added, as long as she wins a few rounds there.
