RE: Week 45 - Women's ITF(10K) - Sunderland (new thread)

Top 100 for Laura would indeed be extremely difficult, but as has been said a couple of good grand slam results would help tremendously, and by next year I certainly see her capable of achieving these, plus maybe another run or two in some of the stronger tournaments she is allowed entry into. I wouldn't dismiss top 100 out of site.

Gawd, I'm usually conservative, but there is omething about this girl....

Also, she stands a good chance of getting a WC for Wimbledon. Indeed precedence for junior champions, even if not British, suggests she should get one.  I'm also wondering if it is even posssible that the Aussies could give her a WC to the Aussie Open to celebrate the achievements already of this great Aussie parented, Aussie born, Aussie raised ( err until 6 months old !  ), good allround Aussie wink.gif

I think top 200 in a years time would be amazing. top 100 would be phenominal.

I think a wimbledon WC is pretty much guranteed now. If she gets a good draw then top 100 is a bigger posibility.

I thought that winning the junior title meant an automatic wc for Wimbledon?

I think you are right....dont think it is written down anywhere though...but it is given that she will be there via a WC.

The agreement between the ITF and the Grand Slams is that junior winners will automatically receive a WC into qualifying at that event next year. Wimbledon has upgraded these WCs to main draw WCs recently, but is not obliged to do so (the other grand slams have not usually upgraded junior winners). The fact that Laura has already beaten last year's junior winner (and this year's main draw WC recipient) Urszula Radwanska will make it difficult for Wimbledon to refuse to upgrade Laura though.
