That's a good point. Michelle ended last year much higher than Laura, has had an excellent year and still finds herself outside the Top 100. This is including the fact that the 2 Grand Slams she played don't count towards her AER.
I'm not too bothered about ending the year #1, but I'd love to see her match Anna Kournikova's(?) winning Eddie Herr 3 times record.
It's very unlikely but the best chance would be to win through a couple of GS qualifiers and get a lucky 1st round draw in each. That would be worth 182 points.
Congratulations Laura and what a day for the British girls!
Think worrying about Junior rankings for Wild Cards is not needed though as I am sure she will get plenty, and probably too many in all honesty, of offers.
First senior title so soon - brilliant week. Congrats also to Sam and the other British girls who exceeded their rankings this week and who continue to show us that the girls are making big strides at all levels. The renewed support they are getting is definitely paying off.

She's only allowed 3 standard WCs (see Tara for what happens on number 4..).
I don't actually know if JE places are additional to the 3 WCs. If they are, they help. If not, they don't.
I think with current AER, she would have to do quite extraordinarily well to make it to the 350-400 points that is the top 100. She has both the AER to contend with, and is currently competitive vs top 200 players, but not overwhelming them. I'd give it a good two years to get near there.

I expected Laura would win, but as you say, a splendid week for all the Brit girls. I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress from here. Next year could be quite exciting on the female front.
Actually, I had those junior exempt wild cards wrong - 1x75k and 2x50k is for second place. First place gets 1x100k and 2x75k. They aren't extra wild cards - they just guarantee the minimum tournament grade of the three she'd be entitled to anyway.
Still, things are looking good all round on the womens' front this week.
Congratulations Laura. First 10k in the bag, a nice way to start. What an exciting prospect. Can't wait to see what she does next year but just hope she isn't pushed too far too soon, just nice steady progress upwards.
