RE: Week 45 - Women's ITF(10K) - Sunderland (new thread)

A good group of girls all looking full of promise for the future. The womens game seems to have really come on this year or is it just me?

Totally agree, I think potentially within twelve months there could be another three or four players in the top 100 if Mel, Katie and Laura all fulfil their potential, as well as other players like bally, naomi and Georgia Stoop that could be knockin on the door. Wish the same could be said for the men's game.

Yes. Seems to be a big gap still with the men. you just don't get that same feeling about the progress being made as you do with the women. maybe it's just taking a little longer. But absolutely next year we could have 3 or 4 girls in the top 100. Anne has risen the level for them all to aspire to. She's shown that you can get there with hard work and determination.

Wow, fantastic wins for both Jennifer and Tara!

Now come on Laura and Sam.

Fun fact of the day, according to the ITF website Jennifer is exactly 1 year older than Laura (both born on 21st January). There was of course a similar coincidnce between Henman and Rusesdski and that worked out well!

Wow, you'd think the results were fixed if you didn't know better, wouldn't you LOL Brilliant smile.gif

That's a 14-year-old (Laura), a 15-year-old (Jennifer), a 16-year-old (Tara) and a 17-year-old (Samantha) in the semis here.

Just noticed that even more amazingly than in the men's event, every single one of them beat a higher-ranked opponent today.

Wow, what a fantastic week. Its a shame no one could go down there!

When was the last time we had 4 british women in the semi finals?

Poor Kat she must feel left out of the party. I watched her play a marathon match in Bath earlier in the year against Amanda Elliott. Kat won that encounter but Amanda has moved on faster since then.

Wow that it is brilliant news. For Laura I was kind of expecting it but she showed today that she can last the distance. Fantastic win for Tara over the Brit basher Wong and Sam just keeps surprising everyone! Never in a million years expected Jen to beat Kat so a great result for her.

The future looks bright!! biggrin
