A comfortable if expected victory. What puzzles me is the fact that Bally was quoted last year as saying that she would only play a couple of tournaments at a time because of her chronic liver condition, and has done so, with the exception of the grass court season. Yet here she is playing her 5th tournament in a row with 2 more lined up. I hope this means that there has been improvement in her condition, rather than a gamble with her health to try to make the Australian Open main draw (about 60 more points required to have a realistic shot - which is possible with a run similar to February/March)
Bally has withdrawn today from next week's tournament in Minsk, but remains on the list for Odense (w/c Nov 17th), so hopefully this is due to 'condition management' as explained above, rather than having picked up an injury today. She will have to win Odense (strong 100K, so a tall order) to make the AO main draw (probably).
