In the main draw Laura Robson will be hoping for her first senior title, and she will be joined by Katharina Brown, Tara Moore, Yasmin Clarke plus wild cards Lucy Warburton, Hannah James and Helen Parish. Lucy might sneak into the main draw as a DA, and Jennifer Ren will lead a long line of Brits in the qualifying event.
Qualies starts on Monday with the main draw on Wednesday.
Looking at the entry list for the 10K in Jersey the week after this event, it is rather surprising to see so few Brits on the entry list. Liz Thomas is the highest ranked girl entering at the moment. Apart from her, only Tara Moore, Nicola Mooney, Lucy Warburton, Amy Sargeant and Jen Ren are Brits with rankings on the list - just surprises me is really my only point...
I think it would be a good event for her to do: * It is low profile so avoids the media hype * It is a good chance to build confidence - she otherwise plays senior tournaments which are much harder - this is an opportunity to win a title this year
Unfortunately she needs 7 points to get into the top 500, which would be a good year end milestone.
I think she said this is going to be her final senior event before returning to juniors. I may be wrong and I have NO idea where I got that info from... so I shall run away to avoid further questioning!
