RE: Week 44 - Futures F17 ($10k) - London (Campden Hill)

You have to question the wisdom of giving Marcus a wild card if he was injured.

Rice http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=133225 - no idea why though, I wonder if there's anyone who can enlighten us. At least it's a bit more original than "Evo", "Muzza", "Boggo", etc!

David Rice Number One

Just a guess!

He wasn't carrying the injury before the match-he withdrew last week with a different problem which is now resolved.

Looks like a good guess to me, Grundon, even if it does sound like the kind of nickname a troll poster on here would give himself on here though. LOL

Sorry to hear about Marcus, I guess playing 7 matches in a week (18 sets, nearly half of which were 7-5 or 7-6) when you're not used to playing senior events is bound to take it's toll in on way or another. Hope he gets over this one quickly too.

At least we got 2 more through than I had expected, with a great win for Milton who seems to be putting these results together now, and a good win for Illingworth as well.

Bloomers, Cox and Fleming were always the favourites to win the all-British matches, and good to see Coxy back in the points, and hope he can end the year well and kick on at the start of next season, while a good week for Bloomers can secure an Aussie Open quali spot

Not a bad day at all!

Milton is king of R1. Lets hope he can soon master R2!

Ken cry.gif but at least it was "Flembo" who beat him! (I like that nicknmae Count!)

I've deleted the partially complete R1-with-rankings results from above (any comments made afterwards still make sense from MJD's paste of the BBC results) so that I can complete it and add it here.

A great win for Josh Milton v the no. 4 seed while the convincing win for Colin against Ken suggests the Scot won't remain out of the top 500 for too much longer.

L32: (1) Richard Bloomfield WR 313 beat (WC) Marcus Willis WR 1761 by 1 & 1 smilecry
L32: (Q) Daniel Cox WR 843 beat (WC) Neil Pauffley WR 1761 by 3 & 4 smilecry
L32: (WC) James Feaver WR 762 lost to (5) David Novak (CZE) WR 494 by 0 & 3 cry
L32: Neil Bamford WR 712 lost to (3) Pierre Metenier (FRA) WR 434 by 6-2 4-6 7-5 cry
L32: Matthew Illingworth WR 751 beat (Q) Baptiste Bayet (FRA) WR 947 by 2 & 4 smile
L32: (WC) Colin Fleming WR 859 beat (8) Ken Skupski WR 582 by 3 & 2 biggrinbleh
L32: (Q) Dan Smethurst WR 1012 lost to Miloslav Mecir (SVK) WR 627 by 1 & 4 cry
L32: (Q) Joshua Milton WR 853 beat (4) Jean-Noël Insausti (FRA) WR 465 by 4 & 2 biggrin
L32: (Q) David Rice WR 996 lost to Martin Klizan (SVK) WR 668 by 1 & 2 cry

L16 Q1: (1) Richard Bloomfield WR 313 v (Q) Daniel Cox WR 843 (winner to play (5) Novak or Marti)

L16 Q2: Matthew Illingworth WR 751 v (WC) Colin Fleming WR 859 (winner to play (3) Metenier or Varga)

L16 Q3: (Q) Joshua Milton WR 853 v Miloslav Mecir (SVK) WR 627 (winner to play Cauvard or Bossel)

It's not looking anywhere near as good as last week, but the way the draw worked out, it was never likely to be. At least the one Brit v non-Brit match where the rankings were upset went Josh Milton's way! smile

We seem to have a guaranteed GB pair in the Final thanks to those two w/ds in the top half. smile.gif
