As far as I can tell, the qualifying cuts for the last four years have been (2004 first) 434, 380, 295 & 311 (from an initial cut of about 280 when the entry list came out), but in the years when it droppped down really low, Aussies tend to have been the last few to get in, implying that they only get in with rankings that low because lots of players above them didn't make the trip.

So, I would say a ranking of 280 is safely in, 290 very likely, low 300s possible and the ranking points needed for those levels at the moment are 129, 123 & 120.

If you look at the GB top 25 table at http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/current.htm?n=1, there's a YTD section towards the right-hand side which shows how many ranking points each player has amassed since the start of 2008, so it's more or less their current ranking points less any points to defend between now and the end of the year. (N.B. where a player has scored points at more than 18 events this year, it will be a slight overestimate - that may affect Wardy, Slabba or Josh to the tune of a point or two, but doesn't do so yet)

Currently, the YTD totals for GB 2-9 are:

224 Boggo - safely in AO Q
170 Josh - safely in AO Q
------------------------------

102 Bloomers

93 Slabba

91 Wardy

77 Eaton

69 Baker

60 Marray

This isn't the same as the current ranking order, e.g. because Slabba's mass of points in December 2007 are keeping him above Bloomers at the moment.

You can just use the YTD column on the top 25 table to check how this develops - N.B. the YTD figure includes points from the tournament in progress, even if they are Futures points that won't go on for over a week.

come on stevie wink.gif

lets back up your facts with some good old fashioned speculation.

who's gonna make it?

i think maybe only bloomers. still quite a lot needed for the others (esp if you look at it as a %), slabba has a lot to come off as you say and thats quite a big ask for wardy.

boggo may not even 100% travel if he thinks his season will be better off elsewhere so it could be a rather barren AOQ week.

Bloomers doesn't tend to play much tennis in November and December so he'll be keen to get the points under his belt quickly. Needs a run to the final in London next week, plus a couple of wins in Jersey, where he'll surely be top pick for a wildcard if he doesn't make the cut.

Updated with futures - looks like Feaver spending the winter in Brazil (where they are playing every week for the rest of the year!!)

I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that Evo was going to be entering the Jersey tournament. Does anyone know if he has entered? Thanks.

I imagine Evo will get a wild card.

All events updated with withdrawals and wild cards for women in Jersey.
